Seeing they may not see

Luke‬ ‭8‬:‭10‬ “To you it has been granted to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God, but to the rest it is in parables, so that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.“

One of the reasons why Jesus spoke in parables was so that wicked people with unbelieving, unrepentant hearts would not understand the gospel and be saved.

God sincerely desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Tim 2:4). God is not willing that any should perish but that all come to repentance (2 Pet 3:9).

At the same time God is glorified for His mercy on those who do repent and believe, He will also be glorified for His justice upon those who don’t repent end believe.

God doesn’t take pleasure in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 33:11), but He will be glorified for His righteousness when He condemns them.

“Righteous are You, who are and who were, O Holy One, because You judged these things; for they poured out the blood of saints and prophets, and You have given them blood to drink. They deserve it.” — Rev 16:5-6

Behold then the kindness and severity of God; to those who fell, severity, but to you, God’s kindness, if you continue in His kindness; otherwise you also will be cut off. — Rom 11:22
